TUMOR

An abnormal mass of tissue. Tumors are a classic sign of inflammation, and can be benign or malignant. There are dozens of different types of tumors.

Their names usually reflect the kind of tissue they arise in, and may also tell you something about their shape or how they grow. For example, a medulloblastoma is a tumor that arises from embryonic cells in the inner part of the brain (the medulla). Diagnosis depends on the type and location of the tumor.

Treatment is also specific to the location and type of the tumor. Benign tumors can sometimes simply be ignored, or they may be reduced in size or removed entirely via surgery.
For cancerous tumors, options include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

CARTOON

The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very different forms of visual art and illustration. The term has evolved over time.
The original meaning was in fine art, and there cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a piece of art such as a painting.
The somewhat more modern meaning was that of humorous illustrations in magazines and newspapers. Even more recently there are now several contemporary meanings, including creative visual work for print media, for electronic media, and even animated films and animated digital media.
When the word cartoon is applied to print media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon, most of which have captions and do not use speech balloons. The word cartoon is not often used to refer to a comic strip.
The artists who draw cartoons are known as cartoonists.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

Physical fitness is the capacity of the heart, blood vessels, lungs, and muscles to function at optimum efficiency. In previous years, fitness was defined as the capacity to carry out the day’s activities without undue fatigue. Automation increased leisure time, and changes in lifestyles following the industrial revolution meant this criterion was no longer sufficient.

Optimum efficiency is the key. Physical fitness is now defined as the body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities, to be healthy, to resist hypokinetic diseases, and to meet emergency situations. Fitness can also be divided into five categories aerobic fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

An airbag is part of a vehicle's safety restraint system, a flexible envelope designed for rapid inflation in an automobile collision, to prevent vehicle occupants from striking hard interior objects such as steering wheels. It is considered a "passive" safety component not requiring any input or action from the user, rather than an "active" component — such as a seat belt, which requires fastening.

Various manufacturers have over time used different terms for airbags. General Motors' first bags, in the 1970s, were marketed as the Air Cushion Restraint System. Common terms in North America include Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR); these terms reflect the airbag system's nominal role as a supplement to active restraints (i.e., seat belts).

The efficacy of airbags in saving lives and preventing injuries is a controversial subject. One study, cited below, puts the number at just under 400 per year (6,000 total), and another study indicates that airbags reduce fatalities by 8% when seat belts are worn.
